Welcome to Art at GMS!

Meet the Teacher

GMS Art TeacherMr. Brecher lives and breathes Art. He enjoys creating his own art, studying the works of other artists, and educating young people in the Visual Arts. By sharing his knowledge of art history and the process of creating, he encourages young people to experience artmaking from different perspectives, affirming that art is not only for artists.

Having had a variety of dynamic roles in the Visual Arts, Mr. Brecher began working extensively in art galleries and artist studios.

As a Gallery Director for an international auction house, he focused solely on studying fine art and representing to collectors the work of world-renowned contemporary and historic artists, from Rembrandt and Picasso to Peter Max and Romero Britto. Before teaching at Gifford Middle School, he oversaw Visitor Experience at the Norton Museum of Art, one of the largest art museums in Florida.

Mr. Brecher began expressing his interest in art at an early age and received his formal training at Florida Atlantic University where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts concentrated in Painting.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling, surfing, hiking, and drawing. Having traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest, the Caribbean, South America and Southeast Asia he has found great inspiration in nature and music, appreciating a fragile balance connected by growth and change.
